The UK Blue Badge scheme helps people with disabilities or mobility issues park closer to their destination, either as the driver or passenger.
You might be automatically eligible if you're registered blind, care for a blind child over 2, receive the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), or if you receive Personal Independence Payments (PIP) under certain conditions specified in your decision letter. However, you can still apply if you have long-term walking problems, including those caused by stress or mental health issues, or severe difficulty using both arms. You can also apply for a badge if you care for a child who's disabled or has a health condition that affects their mobility.
The badge is available for both individuals and organisations.
You can apply or renew your Blue Badge online, in some cases, local councils may offer paper forms.
It typically costs up to £10 in England, £20 in Scotland, and is free in Wales.
The badge is valid for up to three years.
Remember!
If any of your details change, such as your name, you must contact your local council to request a replacement badge.
