The UK Government has announced changes for this year's Winter Fuel Payments. You will only be eligible if you are over the state pension age and receive certain benefits for at least one day between 16 and 22 September 2024.
If you live in England, Scotland, or Wales and qualify, the payment will be made automatically—there's no need to apply.
If you’re eligible, you’ll receive a letter in October or November saying how much you’ll get. Payments will be made in November or December to the same account where your benefits are paid.
Remember!
Inform the benefits office of any changes to your circumstances, such as stopping a benefit, moving, or entering a care home, as this may affect your payment.
If you believe you're eligible but don’t receive a letter, or you haven’t been paid by 29 January 2025, contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.
If you need to check your eligibility or get advice, feel free to contact us.
Our helplines are open from Monday to Thursday, 10 am to 4 pm:
