Fraud and scams account for over 40% of crimes in England and Wales. Take your time to protect yourself.
Here are our top tips:
Be suspicious of unexpected calls, messages, or offers. Remember – scammers often pretend to be from trustworthy organisations like your bank, the government, or even a friend.
Beware of urgency and rush - scammers want to put you under pressure to act before you have time to think or ask for advice.
Never give out your personal information, passwords, and authentication codes – these can be used to get access to your accounts, steal your money, and scam other people.
Many of us fall victim to scams. If it happens to you:
Report to your bank – they can protect you from further loss and you may get some or all your money back.
Report to Action Fraud.
