On 12 November 2024, the EERC had the privilege of attending the European Citizens Gathering and the inaugural EU Empower Awards ceremony, hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to the UK. It was a truly inspiring event, bringing together honourable guests, including members of the UK Parliament, MEPs from the European Parliament, consulates, embassies, fellow organisations supporting EU citizens in the UK, and distinguished academics.
This gathering was a powerful opportunity to connect, collaborate, and gain invaluable insights. Throughout the day, we participated in interactive workshops focused on critical topics, including combating online disinformation, and developing strategies to protect ethnic minority communities. These sessions sparked new ideas and reinforced our commitment to making a positive impact. The day culminated in the first-ever EU Empower Awards ceremony.
We are proud of the life-changing support we offer our clients during their most challenging moments. In the 40 years of our work, we supported over 40 thousand Eastern European migrants, and in the last five years alone we supported 7,300 new users. Together with colleagues in the migration sector, we are making a difference to lives of many thousands of fellow Europeans in the UK and we are as determined as always to keep paving the way for positive change.
