1. Keep your contact details updated with the Home Office to receive important updates and information. You can update your details at https://www.gov.uk/update-uk-visas-immigration-account-details.
2. Automatic Extension: If you have Pre-Settled Status (PSS), it is automatically extended by 5 years. You do not need to do anything for this extension.
3. Stay in the UK: With this extension, you can stay in the UK for 5 more years from the date your original Pre-Settled Status was due to expire.
4. Check Your Status: It's a good idea to check your status online to confirm the new expiry date. You can do this at https://www.gov.uk/view-prove-immigration-status.
5. Switch to Settled Status: You can apply to switch to Settled Status (EUSS) after you have lived in the UK for 5 years. This gives you more permanent rights. You will lose the right to switch to Settled Status if you stay outside the UK for longer than 6 months in any 12 months.
6. Long periods outside the UK: You will lose your Pre-Settled Status if you stay outside the UK for 2 years. You will lose the right to switch to Settled Status if you stay longer than 6 months in any 12-month period – you will be able to use your pre-Settled Stuts until it expires only, and after that you will need to apply for a visa.
7. No Fees: There is no cost for the automatic extension of for the application to Settled Status. If you are told that you have to pay a fee to Home Office to apply, someone is trying to scam you.
8. Right to Work, Rent and Benefits: Your right to work, rent a home, and access benefits or services in the UK continues with the extension. From now on your employer and landlord doesn’t have to periodically ask you to confirm if your status is valid. They will not see the expiry date either.
9. Travel: You can travel in and out of the UK with your Pre-Settled Status. Make sure your documents are up to date – if you have recently changed your passport or other ID document that you use for immigration purposes, make sure that you have updated your new document’s details in your online UKVI account.
