Britain is moving to a digital immigration system. If you hold EU Settled Status or Pre-Settled Status (EUSS/PSS), your status is already digital, and you don’t have to do anything. If you use a physical document to prove your status, e.g. Biometric Residency Permit, a stamp or a vignette sticker in your passport, you will need to set up a digital UKVI account.

Here are a few points to remember.
What is the new eVisa?
The new eVisa is a digital version of your immigration status, stored online rather than in your passport.
It allows you to view and prove your immigration status easily using the UK government’s view-and-prove online service.
What does this mean for you?
Your current immigration status remains the same—this digitisation won’t change any rights or conditions you already have.
You no longer need to rely on a physical visa or a stamp in your passport. Your digital status cannot be lost or stolen.
How does it work?
You can access your eVisa anytime through your online account.
When needed, you can share your eVisa details with employers, landlords, or other relevant parties securely online through a sharecode that is valid for 90 days.
